Who Can Become Member & Fees

Joining the Shinrin Yoku Association as a supporting member (Level 1), registered SYA guide (Level 2), other institution’s guides (Level 3) and, and non-guide individual or NPO’s, etc. (Level 4) entails no application fee and life-membership membership for all levels. As a foundation under the name Shinrin Yoku Association, we only accept donations.

These donations help to support the SYA’s mission and operations, contributing to the maintenance and development of resources for Shinrin Yoku guides, and promoting the growth and recognition of Shinrin Yoku worldwide.

Levels of Membership

Level 1
Supporting Members

The Shinrin Yoku Association (SYA) Supporting Membership is designed for those who play a crucial role in shaping the future of the foundation. These members are deeply involved in decision-making processes, the creation of educational materials for public, and discussions relating to research and the challenges faced by guides globally. Supporting members are either certified guides or specialists in fields related to forest therapy and nature-based wellness.

Level 2
SYA Registered Guides

The Shinrin Yoku Association (SYA) Level 2 Membership is exclusively for SYA Registered Guides who have successfully completed their training with The Mindful Tourist. This lifetime membership is dedicated to professional development and adherence to the SYA Code of Conduct & Guidelines, ensuring the highest standards of practice and integrity in the field of forest bathing.

Level 3
Other Institution's Guides

The Shinrin Yoku Association (SYA) Level 3 Membership is designed for guides who have been trained by institutions other than The Mindful Tourist and wish to contribute to the ongoing discourse on the future of the practice of Shinrin Yoku. This membership offers a platform for these guides to engage in professional development, collaborate with peers, and actively participate in shaping the field of forest bathing.

Level 4
Public, NPOs, et.al.

The Shinrin Yoku Association (SYA) Level 4 Membership is tailored for members of the public, non-profit organizations, private individuals, and other wellness professionals who have a general interest in the practice of Shinrin Yoku and are considering becoming future guides. This membership provides an introductory pathway into the world of forest bathing, offering resources, community engagement, and a foundation for those interested in deepening their connection with nature.
